As Ariel has scribed below, the thirteen knots of the Priest/ess belts signified each of the 13 years of Priest/ess training in Avalon. These can serve to be a guidepost of the areas you can choose to deepen with as you continue to walk this spiral path towards the holy of holies at the center of the temple.
