The Starry Lion

As Embodied Alchemists we are here to transmute the lead of the small self into the radiance of the Divine and shine like the Sun.

The AlchemicaPrinciple of this moon is Mortificato; the process of alchemy where the starry lion eats its tail, a dismemberment that proceeds union wherein both male and female become contained.

A green lion consuming the sun is a common alchemical image and is seen in texts such as the Rosarium philosophorum. The symbol is a metaphor for vitriol (the green lion) purifying matter (the sun), leaving behind gold.

" When the green lion eats the sun in a person on a higher spiritual path (for example, an alchemist), the person allows the green lion to eat them in order to be purified — to become spiritually golden."
